What is Reiki?
Reiki is the name given to a natural healing system that evolved in Japan. Reiki was developed and used by Mikao Usui, originally to teach his students ‘spiritual enlightenment’ personal growth and self- healing.
Reiki is a word meaning ‘Universal Life Energy’, the energy that is all around us and surrounds all living matter. The technique is now known all over the world generically as ‘Reiki’.
Reiki is a gentle spiritual healing energy that works by balancing a persons energy system promoting the natural ability of the body to heal on all levels in countless ways: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
The word Reiki can be translated as spiritual energy or life force.
Rei - means spiritual or sacred
Ki - means energy or life force.
Reiki is a non-invasive energy that is transmitted through the hands of the practitioner who has been attuned to Reiki by a Reiki Master Teacher.
The practitioner, once attuned, is permanently connected to the Reiki source and able to channel energy to the client.
Feeling Reiki energy is a wonderful but variable experience. Some people feel a warmth, heat or coolness coming from the practitioners hands, they may experience a gentle tingling, see colours or lights, a few people experience nothing more than relaxation during and after a Reiki treatment. Whatever your experience Reiki adapts to the individual, bringing healing energy into the areas of the body most in need.
As running water smoothes the jagged edges of a rock until it is smooth enough to roll
away, Reiki flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body’s natural
ability to heal itself. Reiki restores balance in one’s life.
